Thank you for being curious about my work

When I was barely out of my teens, I recognized the need for rethinking how we work, play, parent, and educate ourselves in order to restore the planet’s social and ecological balance. For the last 50-plus years, my work mission has been to help people examine the assumptions inherent in the choices we make in our daily lives.

During those years, I have:

• Co-founded my publishing company Life Media - then known as The Alternate Press - with my husband Rolf

• Published and edited books, Natural Life Magazine, Life Learning Magazine, Natural Child Magazine, Child's Play Magazine, and a variety of newsletters

• Written hundreds of articles and essays, as well as 13 books, with contributions to many more

• Written poetry and published two collections

• Worked as a freelance editor, reporter, researcher, and writer for a variety of local newspapers, newsmagazines, business publications, and consultants

• Hosted a weekly small business television show and a radio program

• Written a weekly newspaper column for ten years

• Been an advocate for trusting and respecting children, and for home- and community-based, non-coercive learning

• Advocated for the legitimacy of home-based business and coached/mentored women micro business owners

• Worked as a fiber artist and stained glass artisan

• Managed two art/craft galleries

• Organized craft and consumer shows and green living festivals

• Led the Green Party of Canada

• Volunteered on the boards of a variety of community and education non-profit organizations

In my life and my work, I value compassion, respect, kindness, communication, mindfulness, simplicity, and curiosity. I believe that every experience and encounter provides us with an opportunity to learn and grow. Or, as Carl Jung wrote, “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”

Wendy Priesnitz was the founding editor of Natural Life Magazine, Life Learning Magazine, Natural Child Magazine and Child’s Play Magazine; is the owner of Life Media, which publishes all four of these now free online magazines; has been a journalist for over fifty years; written thirteen books; contributed to many other books; was the national leader of the Green Party of Canada in the 1990s and has two life learning adult daughters.
